Rats are obstacles in the Overcooked! series. They are brown rats with short tails and no legs.
Description
Rats come out of Countertops, Trash Bins and other hiding spots in order steal Ingredients from the players. They are generally placed in kitchens where stocking up on food is a way to cheat.
Rats can steal Ingredients when:
- They aren't chopped,
- They are fully chopped,
- They are laying on the ground,
- They are laying on Countertops or other surfaces like them such as Chopping Boards or Ingredient boxes
- They are combined but not on a plate (ready Burgers, Burritos, etc.)
Rats cannot steal Ingredients when:
- They aren't chopped fully,
- They are on Plates or other serving tools,
- They are in Cookware (Pans, Pots)
- You are holding them.
After the rats grab an ingredient, they will rush to where they came from or to where rats come out of. Once they successfully steal an Ingredient, it will vanish alongside them.
Rats can be slapped and scared in order to be stopped. This can be done by pressing the Action button when the chef is near them. A prompt will appear to press the Action button when close.
Side Notes
- Rats are primarly known for their appearance in 2-2 (Overcooked!), making the whole community nickname the stage the "rat level", although they are present once more in 1-4 (Overcooked! The Lost Morsel) in the first game.
- Rats aren't in any Overcooked! 2 kitchens.
- Rats come back after a 4 year absence in 4 levels of the DLC exclusive to Overcooked: All You Can Eat, those being 1-2 (Overcooked: All You Can Eat Ever Peckish Rises), 2-1 (Overcooked: All You Can Eat Ever Peckish Rises), 2-2 (Overcooked: All You Can Eat World Food Festival) and 2-3 (Overcooked: All You Can Eat World Food Festival).
- Some levels limit the amount of rats roaming around at once.
