Versus Mode is a gamemode available on the main menu, where chefs are able to form teams and face each other to earn the higher score to win.
Matches face off two teams of two chefs each. Each team has their own set of orders to complete, colour-coded and separated at the top of the screen. Teams may have their members split into areas with different tasks available to them, or they may share areas or countertop space with the opposing team, depending on the level.
Versus Mode in Overcooked! can only be played locally, but when selecting this gamemode in Overcooked! 2 players can pick one of the following options:
- Couch: off-line amongst the players set up in the local session.
- Online public: online matched with other players.
- Online private: online amongst the players connected to the same host.
